Where are the best places for spectators to watch and support runners during the race?

Spectators are more than welcome, and there are three excellent aid stations that are particularly well adapted for viewing and cheering on participants:

Lac de Montriond (100km race): A scenic and accessible spot that’s perfect for friends and family to catch runners during the longer distance.

Avoriaz Tourist Office (100km, 50km, and 23km races): This central location is not only a lively support point for all three races but also serves as a Base de Vie (life base) for the 50km and 100km events—making it ideal for extended support and atmosphere.

Pont de Chardonnière (100km and 50km races): A beautiful alpine location with great access for supporters and a key moment in the race where encouragement goes a long way.

We encourage all spectators to respect the natural environment, follow signage and local guidance, and cheer responsibly—your support means the world to the runners!

What are the cut-off times and time limits?

Cut-off times are in place for the safety of all participants and will be strictly enforced at designated aid stations and safety checkpoints along the course. Please ensure you are aware of the time limits for your race:

100K – Maximum time: 24 hours

50K – Maximum time: 14 hours

23K – Maximum time: 8 hours

Staying ahead of these cut-offs is essential for your safety and to remain an official finisher. Plan your pacing accordingly!

Headphone Usage

The use of headphones is discouraged. If you choose to wear headphones, please ensure that you can hear all announcements and remain aware of your surroundings, including other participants, and that the volume is low enough so that the sound is not audible to other runners. Please take any or all considerations seriously by race officials regarding course safety.

Race Bib Palcement

Your race bib must be worn visibly on your chest at all times during the race. Please do not fold, wrinkle, or modify the bib, and make sure it is not covered by a jacket, running belt, hydration pack, or any other item.

Proper bib placement is essential for identification, safety, and accurate timing—help us keep everything running smoothly!

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants, volunteers, and spectators.

What are the medical and emergency protocols during the event?

Your safety is our top priority. In case of an emergency, the designated emergency contact number will be:

Printed on your race bib

Clearly displayed in the Event Village

Communicated during the official race briefing

You can also approach any member of the RunThrough team or event volunteers at any time if you need assistance.

A fully equipped safety and medical team will be present throughout the event—both in the Event Village and strategically positioned along the course—to respond quickly to any situation.

What should I expect regarding weather and terrain?

The event takes place in classic Alpine terrain, so expect a mix of steep climbs, rocky trails, forested sections, and open mountain landscapes. In late June, the Northern Alps typically enjoy mild to warm temperatures, with average daytime highs ranging from 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F). However, conditions can change quickly in the mountains, with occasional rain or cooler winds at higher altitudes.

One important consideration: in recent years, we’ve occasionally experienced periods of excessive heat even this early in the summer. Please come prepared with adequate hydration, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), and lightweight, breathable clothing. Staying informed and ready for varying conditions is key to enjoying a safe and successful event.

How are race rules and regulations enforced?

To ensure fairness and safety for all participants, race rules and regulations are actively monitored throughout the event. Here’s how:

Volunteers and safety personnel are positioned at regular intervals along the course, with additional roaming race agents observing and supporting runners.

These teams are there to ensure compliance with race regulations, safety advice, and environmental guidelines.

Mandatory equipment checks will also take place in the Event Village before the race starts, so please arrive prepared and allow time for this process.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us deliver a safe, fair, and enjoyable race experience for everyone.

Is there a pre-race briefing or meeting?

Yes – there is a mandatory pre-race briefing held 30 minutes before the start of each race, just next to the start line.

This briefing includes important safety updates, course information, and last-minute instructions, so we kindly ask that all participants attend to ensure a smooth and informed race experience.

Don’t miss it—it’s the best way to start your race fully prepared!

How are race results recorded and communicated?

All race results and timing statistics are recorded using chip timing and will be published on the official event homepage shortly after the race:
https://www.runthroughtrails.com/fr/morzine-avoriaz-juin-2025/

Keep an eye on the site post-race to check your time, rankings, and share your performance with friends and family!

Are there any environmental or local regulations to follow?

Yes, the event takes in an area of stunning natural beauty, which means it is part of a network of the most valuable natural habitats in Europe.

Preserving the integrity of this unique environment is a shared responsibility.

We kindly ask all participants to help reduce human impact by keeping noise to a minimum, especially in forested or wildlife-sensitive areas, and by staying on marked trails to avoid damaging fragile vegetation. Please avoid littering—carry out everything you bring in—and respect local wildlife by not disturbing animals or nesting areas.

Your awareness and respect for the environment help ensure that events like this can continue to take place in such stunning natural settings. Let’s all do our part to protect it.
